Accounting Operations Manager – (Full Time / Hybrid/ NW Boston)

Our client, a growing financial institution located northwest of Boston is looking for a hands-on Accounting Operations Manager.  This position is full time and hybrid eligible.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for supporting the operational aspect of the accounting department. This position provides oversight of daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks, general and sub ledgers applications, reconciliations, investment recordkeeping, accounts payable, operational analysis, fixed asset record keeping, and development and maintaining of internal controls. Provide supervisory leadership to the accounting team including recruitment and orientation of new staff, performance management and professional development. The position also include a multitude of accounting activities and ensure that all required deadlines are met.
  • Exercise administrative judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on the accounting/finance department.
  • Exercise organizational policies, procedures and controls to the accounting/finance department.
  • Ensure staff are cross-trained and properly aligned with responsibilities. Mentor and develop the staff work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
  • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of all staff.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Manages the daily operations of the accounting team members.
  • Oversee and assist staff with month-end closing process and review month end reports for accuracy and reasonableness applying a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Coordinate preparation of third party audit and review materials.
  • Prepare presentations to Board of Directors and Senior Management Team
  • Perform ad hoc general ledger and accounting projects and analysis
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).
