Head of IT (Part-Time)

Location: Hybrid (Boston)

Hours: Part-time, Hourly (16-24 hours per week, up to 32 hours occasionally)

Overview:

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Head of IT to oversee and manage its IT infrastructure and operations. This part-time position requires a proactive and hands-on individual who can effectively manage their Managed Service Provider (MSP), ensuring smooth functioning of their IT systems and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage and oversee the relationship with the US-based Managed Service Provider (MSP), ensuring timely resolution of IT issues and effective delivery of services.

2. Provide onsite support 2-3 days per week, with flexibility for additional onsite support as needed.

3. Oversee the day-to-day operation of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand IT requirements and provide appropriate solutions to meet business needs.

5. Implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance andsecurity.

6. Monitor IT performance metrics and proactively address any issues or bottlenecks to improve efficiency and productivity.

7. Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, and make recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.

8. Be available for occasional off-hours support to address critical IT issues or emergencies.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a financial or investment firm.

3. Proven experience managing and overseeing Managed Service Providers (MSPs).

4. Strong technical knowledge and expertise in IT systems, networks, and infrastructure.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

6. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

7. Flexibility to provide onsite support as needed and availability for occasional off-hours support.

8. Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft) are a plus.
